Aug 09, 2015 I have a problem regarding with my mouse (Razer Krait 2013 edition). I have already installed razer synapse in order for this thing to function properly but still it will not suddenly work few minutes after i plugged the device in the right usb port of my macbook. I tried to switch it on the other side but still the problem is the same. Auto Disable Synaptic Touch pad When USB Mouse Plugged In Labels. Now, if you are like me and hate the sensitivity of touch pads these days and want to disable it when you have your USB mouse plugged, you can easily do this with a registry edit. Double Click on Mouse and Click the tab for Device Settings. You should see a check box.
I've only been on OS X for 2 days! So I am pretty new. Basically when I plugged in my Targus USB mouse it popped up that I was replacing the keyboard, it said if I wasn't then just to ignore the message and carry on, so I crossed it but my mouse isn't been detected by my Macbook Pro. The red light on my mouse is on so it has power but I can't see anywhere where I can set it up, all I'm thinking is that I need a Mac specific mouse? I got this mouse with my Vista laptop but I assumed it would plug in and work on OS X? Actually try downloading a developer tool called USB Prober and check to see if the mouse is actually being detected on that usb port.
If it is then there may be a driver issue in the kernel, check to see if that vendor has a driver for that product on mac. If you are lucky they might be using a standard USB interface chip, from FTDI here: or Prolific here: Those options are your best chance if the hardware works and the system does not integrate with it. You could also be using an under voltage USB port so try another port.
Could you post details about the product you are connecting I could help a little more if I knew the brand and model. I have one, still somehow it didnt appear. I downloaded the one for os x 10.7.2 and ran it. Below are the last lines of the log - below. The mouse is detected (confirmed by the infrared light and the fact that when I plug it and go System Preferences/Mouse I see the Settings) but the pointer still does not move and the mouse cannot click Hub (HubDevice) @ 0xfd100000 with 2 ports Port 1: Status: 0x0307 Change: 0x0000 IR Receiver STATUS(change): CONNECT ENABLE SUSPEND POWER LowSpeed Port 2: Status: 0x0303 Change: 0x0000 USB OPTICAL MOUSE STATUS(change): CONNECT ENABLE POWER LowSpeed. If you have your mouse plugged into an external hub plug it into the USB port on the front of your mac and see if it works there. I have had issues with pointing devices being connected through external hubs before.
There could be a conflict if you look at 'Port 2: (.dev)-DeviceRequest err: 0xe000404f ' which seems to be a under the BRC2070 chip, controlling Bluetooth. I would expect that to only affect the Bluetooth system. Have you already tried disconnecting USB devices one by one to see if there is a conflict? Your device might be getting less power than required through the USB port it is connected to. This can be corrected by plugging it into one of the ports in the back of your system. Please try installing this driver and let me know if it works.
It's a general prolific driver. There are a handful of off the shelf micro-controllers that control USB devices and chances are we will find one that works through the process of elimination. Next try this one: Possible datasheet for the micro-controller (uC) in your mouse, please ignore the Chinese writing as the document is in english and will load shortly after.
I have not tried writing my own device driver for mac / linux yet but someone else might have or might be able to direct you to one which will work if the above two option do not work. If could get some more information about the device by going into Terminal type: cd /dev ls and view what devices are connected using tty.
For instance I have additional devices listed as follows: tty.ARDUINOBT-BluetoothSeri tty.Bluetooth-Modem tty.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync This shows me additional information and leads me towards a drivers option. But try the first two generic USB uC drivers and see if they work. If not try searching for a linux driver that contains source code and I could walk you through compiling for your Mac.
This issue has been happening for a couple of weeks now and is getting annoying. I leave my computer at work in the evening and all is well. I turn off my display and leave the computer on so backups may occur overnight. Upon my return in the morning I turn my monitor back on. I tap the keys on the keyboard and wiggle the mouse and nothing happens. I then press the power button on my g5 tower to get the computer to wake up.
Upon waking I can see the arrow on screen. However, nothing I do makes the mouse or keyboard work while the computer is freshly awoken. The batteries on both the wireless keyboard and mouse are fresh. I have to restart the computer to get my mouse and keyboard action back. I would like to get my mouse and keyboard working without a restart. My suspicion is that a recent update created this issue however I do not have a clue where to start. Thanks in advance for any help.
I've got the same problem on my desktop G4. At first I suspected my wireless mouse, got a new battery, then tried a different wired mouse, and I still get the freezes.
Since I can't use my keyboard either and the mouse is plugged into the keyboard I tried plugging into one of the monitor usb ports. I still get the freezes. I first noticed this happening after the computer had gone to sleep, but it also happens while I'm using it. There doesn't seem to be any identifyable time that it happens or specific thing that I am doing.
What is consistent is that once it happens I can't get input control of my Mac back. Usually restarting will fix it, but today I restarted and had control for about 5 seconds before it did it again and then on another restart the mouse and keyboard were frozen from the get go. I recently updated to 10.4.10 and suspected it as the problem, however my G4 powerbook has also been upgraded to 10.4.10 and I am not having that problem on it. This is getting very frustrating and I'm not sure what to try next. Especially since I can't even seem to get control of that computer again. I too had (hopefully, anyway) this issue with my Macbook Pro 2.4.
However, although my mouse (both trackpad and mighty mouse) didn't move (but they were active for the first 1-2 seconds upon waking the machine), I could command-tab between windows and the main power button worked. Other than that the system was completely locked up.
As such, I suspected a software problem (although not confirmed as caused by Apple software). My initial thoughts concluded it was a network/ethernet problem but I have since ruled this out.
I also have a firewire soundcard (M-Audio FW410) daisy-chained with my Western Digital MyBook harddrive and I suspected this to be the problem, however I have not verified this.I have since reformatted back to 10.4.9 (one-pass zero) and I'll post an update later next week. But please let me know if you get a fix (just in case mine still doesn't work). Mine also seemed to get worse over time. It is really hard to say because then out of the blue I'd start up my mac and it would work for maybe an hour or two and then start the strange behavior. Since my last post I took my Mac to the apple store to consult with an aaple genius. While there I had my tower connected to their monitor, their keyboard and mouse.
I never had a single problem for close to two hours. I clicked on everything I could think of and shut down and restarted, put the computer to sleep and woke it up, changed those settings, etc. So, we concluded that I needed a new keyboard and mouse. When I got home and set it back up with the new usb devices it worked great for about a half an hour and then did the same thing again.
Then I thought maybe the usb ports on my monitor are bad which is where the keyboard was plugged in. Then I plugged the new keyboard into one of the usb ports on the tower.
Still had the problem. Then I tried the other usb port AND I also turned off the option to require a password when waking from sleep.
I've also got the option to 'never' put the computer to sleep but only to switch to the screensaver. I haven't had another issue since doing this so the fix is either switching to that other usb port or turning off the setting in security preferences. Or my computer is just messing with me and will give me problems again. It doesn't make sense that the issue is related to the security setting because I tried starting up from my OSX install DVD and I still had the frozen mouse problem.??? I didn't try moving from window to window via the keyboard when I had a frozen mouse but I did try using expose via F11 and that did not work. My power button seemed to be the only way to get a response out of the computer.
I could tap it to make it go to sleep and then tap it again to get the password field up, but then I couldn't type the password in. I'm going to try turning the option to ask for a password on again and see if the problem comes back.
But because it has been working I almost hate to mess it up. So far so good. I've put the machine to sleep 4 times, both the machine doing this automatically and a manual sleep by closing the lid. I have tried my best to replicate the situation as to when it happened before. When I am confident that I'm getting any problems I might reinstall my soundcard driver. The latest version is only optimised for 10.4.9 (I was running 10.4.10).
It's quite hard to narrow down what is causing the issue but I have a feeling it may be this. Well, that or 10.4.10. At least I hope it's software:P. I have the same problem on my G4tower that does not have a different sound card installed other than what came factory installed. It seems like the common problem is 10.4.10 - accept - I also have 10.4.10 on my powerbook and have had no problems at all with it.
There must be a difference between the powerbook and my G4tower and I'm guessing that there is something in common that my G4tower and your MacBook Pro share. But what is it? I also tried booting my G4 tower with nothing at all plugged in to it other than the keyboard, mouse and monitor and still had the problem. When I say it also did it when booting up without anything plugged into it. I just mean if the computer is completely shut down and after I unpluged my printers, scanner, speakers and turn it on again (boot it up). Oh I did have ethernet still plugged in. When I had my mac set up at the apple store it was not hooked up to the internet in any way so that was another difference.
As for the types of applications I run. I do graphic design and internet development. Adobe Creative Suite is installed and I have been getting crashes lately in GoLive.
I can't think of any other application that has been giving me any problems. The same software is installed on my powerbook that is not having the problem, however, I hardly ever use it on the pb. I've also got Virtual PC installed on both computers and use it constantly on the powerbook but not the G4tower so it probably doesn't have anything to do with that. One app installed on the G4tower that is not on the pb is Suitcase Fusion and all my fonts. I have also recently disabled Suitcase loading at startup.
Another suspect. Do you have any of these running on your machine?
There might be something incompatable with 10.4.10 in one of the components of Adobe CS3 software that we both have. I'm still not having any problems today at all. I'll try using all my Adobe software and see how it goes. I need to do something in GoLive anyway. Also, I thought I had disabled Suitcase Fusion at startup but I didn't so it probably wasn't the problem. Ethernet is plugged in as well. I don't think not finding the network could be the problem though.
Back when the problem was extremely cronic I was able to access my G4tower from the powerbook over the network and copy files over to my firewire drive from it as well and launch applications that are only installed on the tower and run them from the powerbook. All network functionality seemed fine.
I'll let you know if I discover the problem again and can isolate it. What sort of work do you do on your macbook pro? I've tried forcing the computer to shut down by holding the powerkey for 3 seconds and then starting it back up again and the mouse is still frozen. One time I mounted the tower hard drive on my pb over the network and took a look in the preferences folder. I sorted them by date and trashed all the plist files that had been modification dates of today.
Then shut down and started the g4 and it worked for about 2 minutes. Enough for me to launch mail realize I needed to restore a mail plist from an archive to get all my settings and accounts back.
I even got to read a few emails before my mouse froze again. Then I remembered that the genius at apple had said he was going to reset my computer and maybe that is why it worked the whole time I was there. He said it was something other than setting the pram.
So I call apple and they said the only way to reset it is to hold down the power button and then turn it back on. I've been doing that and that hasn't changed anything. So, now I'm stuck again. Any suggestions? Ok, you are probably getting sick of reading about this.
I just discovered something else. My son had borrowed my mouse last night and when he plugged it back in to my tower, instead of plugging it in to the new keyboard where I had been using it, he plugged it into one of the usb ports on my monitor. I just moved it and now it is working again. I didn't even have to restart the computer. So that points to bad usb ports on my monitor. If I want to live dangerously I could try launching GoLive again and see if it works.

I might try to get some other work done first though. Apple Footer. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
